Eligibility

Leaders may be any student who falls under Computing, or the broader Arts and Science Undergraduate Society, including Concurrent Education
Preference will be given to students who are enrolled in Computing.
Orientation Leaders must have access to a computer or phone with a reliable internet connection.

Job Description

As an Orientation Leader, you have the unique opportunity to provide the first impression of the students, traditions, and facilities of Queen’s University and the School of Computing to a group of up to 20 incoming students.
Groups of three to four Orientation Leaders will be in charge of leading each group of incoming students to their events and will strive to make the Computing Orientation 2024 as welcoming, inclusive, fun and informative as possible.
Orientation events will be in-person, and you will be required to be in Kingston for the duration of orientation.

Expected Commitment

February - End of Winter Semester: Including, but not limited to the following:

MANDATORY Queen’s Human Rights and Equity Training
Fundraising Events

May - End of August: Including, but not limited to the following:

MANDATORY OnQ ORT Summer Training

End of August - Beginning of September: Full time, including, but not limited to the following:

MANDATORY TC TECH Training and preparation

Application Process

Step 1 - Submit a Creative Component

Please submit the mandatory creative portion by the above deadline by emailing it to [email protected] with the subject line [TECH 2024]. You could write a song, create some memes, draw, etc. For examples of the creative component, here's some examples.

Step 2 - Submit Your Digital Application

Step 3 - The Interview

Once your application is submitted you'll be scheduled for an interview right away!

Application Tips

In your application, try to highlight times when you were in a leadership position.
Before the interview, think about your teamwork experiences and what you did in those situations. What skills were put to the test? What problems did you have and how did you solve them?
Think about how you could bring improvements to Orientation 2024.
